WORCESTER- - Margery A. (Thyberg) Carlson, 75, of Worcester passed away Thursday, October 3 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center.
She leaves her husband of 56 years, Roland G. Carlson; a son, Kristafer R. and his wife Nga T. Carlson of Worcester; two daughters, Julie A. and her husband James Burke of Hopkinton and Thanh Nguyen of Worcester and seven grandchildren. A sister, Marion E. Olson predeceased her. She was born in Fitchburg, daughter of Philip W. and Hildur E. (Johnson) Thyberg and graduated from Worcester Girls Trade School.
Margery was the owner of the former, House of Constance where she was a cosmetologist and hair stylist. She also co-owned with her sister the former Blue Thistle Gift Store. She was a member of Bethlehem Covenant Church, where she was active with the Covenant Women's Group, served as chairperson of the Council of Diaconate and was the financial secretary. Margery's other passion was taking care and fostering Asian immigrants that arrived to Worcester. She spent countless hours helping people from Vietnam and China establishing themselves in the City and assisting them to become American citizens. This was a source of tremendous pride for her.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, October 8 at 11:00 AM in Bethlehem Covenant Church, 46 Greenwood St. Burial will be private in All Faith Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Diaconate Fund at the Church. Arrangements in the care of LINDQUIST LUNDIN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Butler St.
