Nancy Carlisle Obituary
Nancy M. (Stedman) Carlisle, 85

Boylston - Nancy M. (Stedman) Carlisle, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, in her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She leaves her husband of 66 years, Phillips M. Carlisle; three daughters: Judith Henderson, wife of the late Richard, of Holden, Nancy Zafirs, and her husband, Christopher, of Clinton, and Gayle O'Riley, and her husband, Sean, of Acton; two sisters: Miriam "Mimi" Tyler, and her husband, Robert, of Brooksville, FL, and Priscilla Lockney, and her husband, James, of Lancaster; ten grandchildren: Cynthia, Phillip, Justin, Crystal, Jillian, Nicholas, Kara, Griffin, Thomas, and Caroline; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and their families. She was predeceased by her son, Thomas H. Carlisle, who died in 2009. Five siblings, Henry "Rusty" Stedman, June Stedman, Christine Baer, Jean Heighton and Corinne Hines Locke, also predeceased her.

Nancy was born in Clinton and raised in Lancaster, daughter of Henry and Alice (Wadsley) Stedman. She was a graduate of Lancaster High School, Class of 1951, and had been a resident of Boylston for 60 years.

For many years prior to retirement, she worked alongside her husband, Phil, as the Office Manager for their business, Carlisle Fuel Co.

A devout, lifelong member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Clinton, Nancy was a member of the church choir, participated in various church committees over the years, and started the church's Prayer Shawl program.

Nancy was a humble woman, ever thoughtful of others. This was evidenced by the countless meals she delivered through community outreach programs, May Day Basket deliveries, cookies, gingerbread houses, cakes and quilts, all of which she made with love and gifted to family and friends alike. In addition, she handmade bridal quilts and wedding cakes for her nieces and nephews, and won awards for her quilting talents. Above all else, she will forever be remembered as a wonderful wife and mother.

The Carlisle family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the entire VNA Hospice & Palliative Care team, especially Laura, for their kindness and compassion.

Nancy's funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 with a service at 11:00 a.m. in the Church of the Good Shepherd, 209 Union St., Clinton. Burial will be private. Friends and relatives are invited to attend calling hours at McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton, on Monday, July 16, 2018, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, and in the spirit of Nancy's thoughtfulness, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd, Outreach Program, 209 Union St., Clinton, MA 01510.
