Olive Kuniholm Obituary

Olive Roberta (Bottcher) Kuniholm, of Petersham passed away, Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Langdon Place in Keene, NH.

Olive was born in Worcester on May 12, 1922, the daughter of Gustof and Celia Bottcher. She grew up in Worcester and attended William and Mary College before transferring to Leslie College in Boston. Mrs. Kuniholm was a homemaker for most of her life and a former member of the Women's Club of Orange and an active member of the Craft Center in Petersham for many years. Olive will be remembered by her relatives and friends as a woman who loved entertaining and loved living in their house in Petersham, which she and her husband spent months renovating. Olive was an artistic woman who enjoyed needlepoint, sewing, knitting, making Teddy bears and crafts of all kinds. Both she and her husband David were active members of Tech Old Timers at Worcester Polytechnic Institute for many, many years.

She leaves a son, David A. Kuniholm, Jr. and his wife Karen, both originally from Orange, Massachusetts and currently residing in Walpole, NH; a daughter, Donna Kuniholm Duran and her husband Juan Ramon Duran residing in Madrid, Spain; a granddaughter, Sara Duran of Spain, presently a Ph.D. candidate at Duke University in North Carolina and two nieces, Lois (Gustaffson) Errante and Phyllis (Gustaffson) Camp both of California.

She was predeceased by her husband of fifty years, David A. Kuniholm, in 1993 who worked for Rodney Hunt for 17 years before becoming self-employed as a Manufacturers Sales Rep. She was also predeceased by her brother, Stanley Bottcher, and by her sisters, Charlotte Gustafson and Thelma Frudenthal.

There will be a graveside service for family and friends on August 20, 2011 at 2 p.m. in East Street Cemetery, Petersham.

There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472 or to the Petersham Craft Center.

Dear Ollie, Thanks for being such a good friend to my mother for those countless years, with so many, many activities which you shared. She always appreciated your friendship so much, in part as another Scandinavian. I'll remember the parties you attended with my folks when we were growing up, swimming at Queen Lake, your teddy bears and always good humor.
