Robert Lee Alix, Sr., 67

Whitinsville - Robert Lee Alix, Sr., 67, passed away on Aug. 28, 2018 at UMass Memorial Hospital suddenly, and unexpectedly after being stricken ill. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, MaryBeth (Horan) Alix.

He is also survived by a son Robert "Robbie" Jr. and his wife Laura of Lancaster, MA; 2 daughters, Stefanie Bullio and her husband Marc, Sr. of Northbridge, Holly Michniewicz and her husband Joshua of Brewster; his mother, Hattie V. (Ames) Alix of Whitinsville; several nieces and nephews, of whom he was very fond; and many great friends. He was the beloved grandfather of Harper, Piper, Marc Jr., and a grandson on the way. His grandchildren affectionately referred to him as "Bumpa."

Born in Whitinsville on April 2, 1951 he was the son of the late Arthur J. "Chico" Alix and lived his whole life in Whitinsville. He was a gold medal graduate of Northbridge High School class of 1969, and then continued his education attending the University Of Connecticut School Of Pharmacy, where he graduated in 1974. He was a former Professor Emeritus at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, and worked for various pharmacies throughout the area over the years. He proudly owned and operated Spartan Drug in Uxbridge, as well as Leicester Pharmacy for many years; he retired from pharmacy in 2016. Bob has been working as a real estate broker for over 30 years, most recently for Jack Walker Realty.

Bob was very active in the community as a trustee of Heritage Park, a corporator on the board of UniBank, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Mumford Council #365. He enjoyed playing cribbage with his friends, and was a devoted son, husband, father, and grandfather. He will be remembered as a great confidant to many, as he was always there to lend an ear and gave the best, unbiased advice. He was a man of great faith and a member of St. Patrick's Church.

His funeral will be held on Wed. Sept. 5 at 11am in St. Patrick's Church, 1 Cross St., Whitinsville. Calling hours will be held at Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville on Tues.
