Robert W. Raymond

Auburn - Robert W. Raymond, 66, of Auburn, died Thursday, August 9, at the UMass-Memorial Medical Center.

He was born in Worcester, son of Benjamin and Edith (Amster) Raymond. He lived most of his life in Auburn.

Bob was a graduate of Auburn High School and played on the varsity hockey team that won the 1968 Massachusetts state championship.

He was a master mechanic and worked many years for the Harry F. Lucey Co., an automobile repair company on Cambridge St. in Worcester. After that business closed, he worked for the Peterson Oil Co. for several years before retiring.

Bobby was an avid fisherman and an accomplished scuba diver. He enjoyed vacationing on Cape Cod. He was a devoted fan of the Boston Bruins and Red Sox, and the New England Patriots. He also loved animals.

Bob leaves a daughter Andrea Thomas and her husband Lee of Putnam, Conn., his longtime partner Colleen Conety of Worcester; two brothers, Paul F. Raymond of Oahu, Hawaii and Michael Raymond of Holden; a sister Nancy Hurowitz of West Brookfield; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are private. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St., Worcester, MA 01606.

The Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, is directing arrangements.
