Wilfred R. Lajeunesse

Southbridge - Wilfred R. Lajeunesse, 93, passed away on Tuesday, May 15th, in the Southbridge Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center after a brief illness.

His first wife, Jeanne (Anger) Lajeunesse, passed away in 1974, and his second wife, Gabrielle L. (Courchesne) Lajeunesse, passed away in 2008. He leaves his two daughters, Linda Valinski and her husband William of Worcester and Debra Richard and her husband Bernard of Dudley; his two step sons, Gilles McCutcheon of Quebec City, Canada and Francis McCutcheon of Montreal, Canada; his two sisters, Alice Pepka of Dudley and Doris Plaga of Webster; and his two grandchildren, Dr. Emily Carell and her husband Jon of Jamaica Plains and Andrew Richard of Milford, CT. His grandson, Jimmy Valinski passed away in 1989. He was also predeceased by his two brothers, Nelson Lajeunesse and Hector Lajeunesse and his sister, Lorraine DiTomasso. He was born in Southbridge the son of Narcisse and Julia (Dionne) Lajeunesse. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II.

Wilfred worked at the American Optical Co. in Southbridge for many years before retiring.

His funeral will be held on Friday, May 18th, from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Mass at 11:00am in Notre Dame Church of the St. John Paul II Parish, 446 Main St., Southbridge. Burial will be in New Notre Dame Cemetery, Southbridge. A calling hour in the funeral home will be held on Friday, May 18th, from 9:30 to 10:30am, prior to the Mass.
