Today at 66 years old, 50 years after high school, someone asked me "who were the top ten most influential men in your lifetime?" I named Mr. Pinto as one on them. Remembering Coach Pinto.

To Mr Pinto's family, I sadden to hear about his passing. I remember him as one of my first gym teacher, I think it was Elizabeth Street School back in the late 50's early 60's. He made gym real fun, in the good old days. Sorry for your loss.

One of the GOOD guys! Had Mr.Pinto-Coach Pinto in P.E.class at the old Boys Club. We had more fun with Mr.Pinto and the other teachers than we were suppose to. Some of my best memories are from his classes and beating St.John's in baseball. He never raised his voice - a firm stare and I did what he wanted me to do. Thanks Coach and Mr.Pinto.

Coach Pinto was a wonderful man who gave a lot to others. He taught me to swim at the old Healds Beach when I was young. Was a good friend of my fathers and always said hello to me when our paths would cross when I played for South and he coached at North as we shared the same practice facillity at Foley. My condolences to Mrs. Pinto and your entire family, we have lost a true Hall of Famer.

My deepest sympathies to the Pinto family on the passing of Iron Arnie. He was by far one of the best coaches in city sports and certainly the most colorful. Mr Pinto was truely a guiding force to many boys in their teenage years, myself included. He went to bat for me trying to get me big time college scholarships. I will never forget Mr. Pinto. RIP Coach & Thanks for all you did. North High 1971-74.
