Jim has been a true friend ever since our college days. Even when apart because of his career pursuits. He was a kind, generous, positive person who will be remembered for a long time in the hearts of all who knew him.

Jim was a true friend, always giving to and helping others. There was never a task that was too big for him to tackle, whether it was helping me sand the hardwood floors of my first house, or running a marathon! I'm proud to have had him as a friend and cherish the closeness I share with his daughters Gretchen, Julie & Karen. You are loved & will be missed, dear friend!

Jim and I shared so many wonderful times together at Gilda's Club training for the half marathon. He was nearly 30 years my senior. One day before training as we were leaving the clubhouse someone said to me ," Look out for Jim." I said, "Okay ". I had to keep up with Jim as he was always a step ahead of me. I was exhausted upon returning to the clubhouse. I am so grateful for all our times together @ Gilda's Club.

Jim was truly an extraordinary example of a person who consistently embraced life as fully as possible. Even in the last four years, while suffering through so much, he continued to grow, getting involved with Gilda's Club, tackling a half-marathon, and making plans for the future with Nancy. To me, this is the essence of his gift - not seeing his struggles as obstacles which could prevent his happiness, but as a natural part of the process of living.
