ABBOTT, JR., Henry Preston Age 86 of Madison. December 13, 2010. Preceded in death by parents, Nufie Allen Abbott and Henry P. Abbott, Sr., and by grandson, Russell A. Abbott. Survived by wife of 64 years, Elizabeth M. Abbott; brother, Robert F. (Blanche) Abbott, Jonesboro, AR; children, Anne A. Tanner, Henry J. "Hank" (Rita) Abbott, David C. (Karen) Abbott; grandchildren, Guy Joseph (Michele) Abbott, Mark (Jeannie) Swor, Amy A. (Matt) Lowe, Emily Abbott, Katherine Abbott and by 7 great-grandchildren. Henry was a 1941 graduate of East High School, and attended Vanderbilt University and the University of Tennessee. He was a U.S Army veteran and was a Registered Professional Engineer while working in several capacities at Ferro Corp./Reichold Chemicals/GAF Corp. for 37 years. Henry taught Sunday School classes for 40 years and was a member of Goodlettsville First Baptist for 42 years. He was a loving and devoted husband and a wonderful father, and will be greatly missed by family and friends. Special thanks to the dedicated staff of Alive Hospice at St. Thomas Hospital. A celebration of Henry's life will be held at Goodlettsville First Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2010 with visitation at the church beginning at noon. Officiating at the Memorial service will be grandson-in-law, Matt Lowe. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Goodlettsville First Baptist Church Building Fund. Henry will be sadly missed but remembered by his family and friends as a loving and compasionate man who loved his family, friends, and his church. I will miss you Pa-Paw.
