Wyatt, Jeane Merab Ferguson
Jeane Merab Ferguson Wyatt Franklin, TN Jeane Merab Ferguson Wyatt was almost 90 when she passed away Thursday afternoon in Franklin. Jeane was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and grew up in Evanston, Illinois. She earned a degree in History from Monmouth College, and then raised her family in Northbrook, near Chicago. She retired with her husband Brad first to Jacksonville, Florida, before settling near family in Franklin, TN. Jeane was short in stature but long in perseverance. She loved British comedies, cleverly written murder mysteries, Big Band music, and a good martini. She watched the first Doctor Who and was a Monty Python fan when Monty Python was only a late-night series on public television. Jeane was always first to finish a crossword puzzle and almost impossible to beat in a game of Yahtzee. Scrabble? Well, Jeane would kick your butt -- but graciously. She sold more than $1 million of houses a year back when that was still a lot of real estate to sell. She liked to garden and she liked cats, although she had allergies to both. Jeane had an unexpected and sometimes wicked sense of humor, and delighted in making others laugh. She so greatly appreciated Father Bob Cowperthwaite and St. Paul's Episcopal Church. But first and foremost, Jeane loved her family, which spanned from coast to coast and sometimes, from continent to continent. Her surviving children are daughters Meg, Kate, Lucy and Amy and son Brad; their mates are Lyle, Dick, Jean and the late John. Her grandkids? They flat-out thrilled her: Emma and Eleanor; Phoebe and husband Doug, and Hillary; Charlotte and her Handsome Devil Gordon; and of course Hannah. She was predeceased by her husband of nearly 60 years, Brad, a certified curmudgeon, who liked to call Jeane "a tough old broad." You know, he was right -- Jeane was a tough old broad, in the very best way, and we all miss her very, very much. Her service will be private, for family only. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Jeane's memory to the Williamson Medical Center Foundation, and specify the Palliative Care Fund.
