Earl Edward Loxley, Sr.

Earl E. Loxley, Sr., age 85 of Hermitage, TN, went home to be with the Lord on December 4, 2013. Mr. Loxley was born in Knoxville, TN on June 17, 1928 to the late Rev. S.E. and Lillian Startup Loxley.

After graduating high school, he served his country, joining the U.S. Navy. He received his basic training in several states in the Country. He completed his next four years stationed at the Naval Hospital in Jacksonville, FL as an x-ray technician.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Paul Turner.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean Wright Loxley; two sons, Edward "Eddie" Loxley of Ashland City, TN and Dr. Scott (Teresa) Loxley of Clarksville, TN; one daughter, Ellen (Don) Gleaves of Hermitage, TN; two sisters, Ruth (Fred) Kiser of Oak Ridge and Rose Cline of Newport News, VA; seven grandchildren, Tiffany and Ethan Loxley, Nathan (Rachel) Loxley, Matthew (Katelyn) Loxley, Jenna (Joey) Boykin, Adam (Mandy) Gleaves and Seth (Heather) Gleaves; seven great-grandchildren, Noah and Kate Loxley, Josie and Emorie Boykin, Acelyn and Maddox Gleaves and Thatcher Gleaves.

A celebration of Mr. Loxley's life will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, December 9, 2013 from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home, with Rev. Larry Dearth and Rev. James Chatham officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery with grandsons serving as Pallbearers. The Agape Sunday School Class of Tulip Grove Baptist Church will act as Honorary Pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday, December 8th and from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. on Monday, prior to the service at Spring Hill Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Gideon's International, TN or Nashville Rescue Mission.
