H. Victor ELLIS

ELLIS, H. VictorAge 89 of Nashville. Passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2013. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam Polk and Metta Mae (Garrett) Ellis; brother, Sam Polk Ellis, Jr.; sister, Mary Virginia Ellis Winn; his son, H. Victor Ellis, Jr. He is survived by his granddaughters, Kayla Ellis and Breeanna Ellis; grandson, Dillon Ellis; great grandson, Niquo Johnson, Jr.; sisters, Betty Hunt and Martha Baker. He graduated from Issac Litton High School in 1942. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served during World War II in the Pacific Theater including the Solomon Islands, Guam and Iwo Jima. He retired from Dupont Co. in 1981. He was elected to the State Legislature where he served as State Representative for 19 years. He was the City Manager of the "City of Lakewood" for over 10 years, a member of the Jere Baxter Edgefield Masonic Lodge #254 for over 50 years. In addition, he was a Life Member as well as Past Commander of the American Legion Post #105. His family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2013. A Masonic Service will be conducted at 7 p.m. that evening. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2013 from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home.
