GRANOIEN, Lisa Dawn Of Nashville, TN, passed away on May 31, 2013. She was killed in a rockslide while hiking with friends in the Box Death Hollow Wilderness of Southern Utah. She is survived by her husband, Luke; children, Jake and Halley; sisters, Jody and Melissa; uncle, Brad; father, John; and two dogs, Moose and Trio. Lisa was born February 22, 1961 in Minneapolis, MN of John and Sue. She graduated from the University of Colorado in 1983 and spent the next two and a half years serving in the Peace Corps in Thailand. In 1988, she married Luke Froeb. Along with their son Jake and daughter Halley, they moved to Nashville. Lisa was devoted to physical fitness and loved to swim, run, bike, and hike daily with a wide group of friends. She always said "yes" when any of them wanted to get together, and described herself as a "co-dependent exerciser." Lisa dedicated much of her time to volunteer activities. At the time of her death, she served on the Boards of Magdalene and the Tree Foundation, and volunteered at Thistle Farms and Crossroads Campus, where abused and neglected dogs form relationships with abused and neglected teenagers. They say that a good athlete makes their team better, but a great athlete makes their teammates better. Lisa was a great athlete, as she inspired those around her to build better relationships with their loved ones and with the world around them. To honor her memory, the family asks donations (time or money) be given to Magdalene, Thistle Farms, Crossroads Campus, Friends of Warner Parks, or the Tree Foundation. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, June 6th at 3 p.m., in Benton Chapel on the Vanderbilt Campus. Reception will follow at 4:15-6 p.m., at the Owen Graduate School of Management, right next door.

Me and my family are enjoying a nic and fire at a beautiful pavilion dedicated to Lisa. I looked up Lisa's name and read Lisa's story to my family. What a great lady. The world needs more people like Lise. I am so sorry for the loss.

Jodi and Missy - it has been years since I talked to either of you, but I still remember being your next door neighbor in Bloomington. I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Lisa's passing. Lisa's picture looks just like I remember her. Reading about her life was wonderful to see the things she was interested in. You are all in my thoughts and prayers, including Lisa's husband, children and dogs who I have never met. Take care.

I was so saddened and heartbroken to hear the news of Lisa's passing. I also grew up with Lisa in Bloomington, MN. Boy did we have some fun times together. I remember us talking her Mom into driving us girls to Rochester and staying in a hotel so we could watch our "Bantam Boys" play hockey. Also rehearsing, endlessly in her living room, for our big "50's" debut for the talent show and our "Roaring 20's Flapper" outfits for another talent show. What a sweet lovely person she is. My prayers will be with her family, God Bless.

I never met Lisa, but feel as thought I got to know her while I was a student in Luke's class this past year. He spoke of her so fondly - particularly of her commitment to helping others. My heart is broken for the entire Froeb family to hear this news and I am praying for peace and comfort during this extremely difficult time.

I am heartbroken to hear of Lisa's passing. Lisa was one of seven Peace Corps malaria control volunteers who spent two years together in Thailand from 1983-85. I think I speak for the other five guys in our little group when I say that she was like our sister. I remember her proudly reporting to all of us one day after her language class that she had learned how to say “whatever!” in Thai (arai godai). I remember too a great party that she threw at her house up in Chiang Rai one weekend. Things got a tad crazy and at one point I found myself clad in her tiny bikini, dancing for all her guests. Although we lost touch years ago, I have thought of Lisa with great fondness on numerous occasions. Her smile, her genuine kindness and her sense of adventure will never be forgotten. My deepest condolences go out to Lisa's family and friends.

To Lisa's family and friends, I am shocked and saddened to hear of Lisa's death. We went to school together in Bloomington and graduated together. We spent many German classes frustrating our teacher ;). Also the birthday party when we decided to toboggan down her Mom's stairway and put a hole in the wall at the bottom) I have only fond memories of Lisa, remember her smile and warm personality. She will be missed by so many.
