Michael Douglas Davis
Michael Douglas Davis, a.k.a. Uncle Jack, was born on December 28, 1945 and after a short illness, departed this world on December 12, 2013. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Davis, and is survived by his loving mother, Lucy Davis.
Mike graduated from Montgomery Bell Academy in 1964 and graduated from Vanderbilt University
with a degree in archaeology. He worked 17 years for Insurance Company of North America and then took over the family business in Springfield. He retired in 2013.
Mike was kind hearted, generous and had a broad base of knowledge, mainly due to his interests in many different fields. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed his hunting trips with his friends. Mike enjoyed trap shooting, photography, making repairs on just about anything, and watching his beloved hummingbirds fight each other at Lucy's house. He enjoyed helping neighbors by power washing, using his chain saw to trim trees and taking family portraits with his amazing photography equipment. He loved visiting his friends often, and embraced their good company and loved a great belly laugh. He will be missed by so many people since he enriched all of us by being part of our lives.
A special thanks to Susan Stokes and Scooter, whose friendship and love meant so much to Mike throughout his journey, in good health and in bad. Also thanks to his best friend and physician, Doug Holliday, for his loyal friendship and great times during his life. Many thanks to physicians Ben Dehner, Tad Porter and Kent Shih for their support.
A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Clarksville at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2013 and visitation will be held on Saturday, December 21st from 3 to 5 p.m., at the home of Lucy Davis, 2217 Chickering Lane, Nashville.
Mike had a special interest in several charities: Walk Strong Foundation, the Alzheimer's beneficiaries and any local cancer charity. He has asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations made to them in his name. Donations may be made online at www.walkstrongfoundation.org
