Ramsey B. Leathers
Ramsey B. Leathers, March 28, 2014. Born October 8, 1920 in Nashville, TN, son of John and Sadie Leathers, he was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Ardis Freeman Leathers.
Survived by daughter, Karen Reddy (John) and sons, Raymond (Jennifer) and Bart (Marilyn); 8 grandchildren, John L. Reddy IV, Jason Reddy (Pamela), Kevin Reddy (Brittany), Bradley Leathers (Alison), Sgt. Frances Leathers Meza, USMC (Yader), Amy Leathers Tidwell (Darren), David Leathers (Julie), Lindsey Leathers and their mother, Linda Leedom; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Ramsey was a Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps during World War II
serving as a glider pilot. It was during glider pilot training in Aberdeen, SD that he met Ardis, the love of his life. Ramsey proposed to her 4 weeks later. They were married in Nashville on May 8, 1943. He served on the AAA Advisory Board. He was a Shriner, Jester and a 33rd Degree Mason. Ramsey attended Peabody College and graduated from the Cumberland School of Law in 1949. He practiced law in Nashville briefly and in 1950, was appointed Probate Master of the Davidson County Court. In 1963, he was appointed Tennessee Supreme Court Clerk, a position that included serving as Clerk to all Tennessee appellate courts, as well as Clerk to the Court of the Judiciary and Clerk to the Board of Professional Responsibility, retiring in 1987. He served in these roles with distinction. Because of his quiet, dry wit and willingness to go out of his way to help, he is remembered even today by members of the Tennessee Bar as a shining example of a court clerk and public servant.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 from 5 o'clock until 7 o'clock in the evening, at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home and on Thursday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m., at St. David's Episcopal Church with service to follow at 10:30 a.m.
