Robert (Bob) Baker
Age 89, entered into rest on Feburary 22, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert A. and Bessie Flowers Baker, and his wife of more than 60 years, Sarah Frey Baker.
He graduated from Donelson High School in 1943, and attended Peabody College and the University of Tennessee. During employment years, he worked for American Airlines in Nashville, Tulsa, and Ft. Worth. From 1961-1981, he served at the Baptist Sunday School Board, now LifeWay Christian Resources, as employment supervisor. He was a representative of Thomas Nelson Publishers from 1982-1985. After retirement, he kept active working with seniors at Willowbrook and the St. Paul. He was a volunteer at Sumner Regional Medical Center, as well as in the Wilson County schools, listening to children read. Prior to his illness, he was an active resident of Rutland Place in Mt. Juliet.
He is survived by his children, Cindy Baker Bell (James) and Robert David Baker (Pris); grandchildren, John Mark Bell, Robert Joshua Baker (Sabrina), Rachel Baker and Molly Baker; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial Service will be Sunday, March 2nd at 3 p.m., at Southside Baptist Church in Gallatin, TN, with visitation 1:30 p.m. until time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Gideons International.
