I will always appreciate his instruction and assistance during my years at Vanderbit Divinity School and during many phone conversations about Friedrich Schleiermacher, Karl Barth, and other German theologians. He was a superb teacher, scholar, and friend. Blessings and best wishes to the Forstman family.

Shi8rley,
I just heard today (from Nancy Ray) that Jack had died. I am so sorry....I remember him as a "good man" in the best sense of the words. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I would write but I am in the midst of packing to move and I can't find your address...Kimpalong I remember but the numbers....3 something? are lost.

I am grateful for years of shared laughter and thoughtful conversation with this beloved fellow choir member at Vine Street Christian Church. His loss brought nearly everyone to tears at church Sunday, and though we wished to do better, I'm afraid we barely squeaked out the anthem through tears, tight throats holding back sobs, and broken heartedness. His wonderful laugh, booming bass voice, and thoughtful insights will be missed.
