Dear Vickie,
Just wanted you to know that Dean Herlong was the reason I came to and stayed at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul. After being at a very close Church I never expected to find another. Thank you both for your welcoming loving ways.

Dear Vicki,
I wish you and your family great comfort. Bert has blessed many. His is a life to be remembered and celebrated. The first Sunday I attended the Cathedral Church of St. Paul in 1983, Bert took me by the arm, shook my hand, welcomed me, and introduced me to many who are still friends. He also helped me connect with GRI to advance my career.
Although my journey has taken me to Winter Park, FL, San Francisco, and Chicago, I have never forgotten the Advent gathering and your wonderful dinner that many of us shared at your home.
With Thanksgiving and Gratitude, Denny

My heartfelt prayers are lifting up for your whole family as you mourn this tremendous loss. I have fond memories of Canon Herlong at St. John's Cathedral, being so warm and friendly to all, including the youngsters. Michele and I were in Sunday school together through the years you were with us. My mama, Julia, was right there at the gates to welcome her dear friend, Bert.

It seems like yesterday that Bishop Herlong confirmed our daughter Hannah. What a privilege to know him and his sweet wife Vicki. He will be missed by so many. Our prayers are with his family, that they may find the peace that Bishop Herlong now has along side his Heavenly Father. The Grasman Family

Being as I am also a native-born Floridian, our wonderful Bishop and I always shared our common heritage chant that "we Floridians must always stick together!" He had a good sense of humor and was an easy man with whom to talk. I, as many, will certainly miss him. God bless him and keep him in his lovely Heavenly home.

Dear Vicki,
Arnold called me today to tell me about Bert's death. What was the cause of his death? I hope he did not suffer. I am deeply saddened. He was a good friend, and I will miss him very much. I have wonderful memories of those days at the Cathedral.
My love and condolences to you and the family.

Dearet family, Jack and I share your deepest loss. We loved him like a brother. It was so good to see him last year at Bob Park's memorial service in Jacksonville, Fl. He did a terrific job in getting Jacksonville Espicopal High School started in one year, even had books in the classroom on opening day. Our hearts go out to Vickie, his devoted wife, and his children Angela and Michele. He was a wonderful and devoted servant of God. Sally and Jack Higgins.....Jacksonville, FL

Jim and I remember well our days at Episcopal HS, being neighbors, playing bridge, and enjoying the company of your family. We were so young and just starting our journey in the Episcopal church and in our lives. Thank you so much for your friendship and guidance though our paths have not crossed for many years. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Jim & Pat DeArmond
