Dear Norene, I am writing for my mother, Jean Crump Clyburn. She loved little "Georgie" and talks a lot about all of her very accomplished Yowell cousins and Aunt Lucy and Uncle Carey. She is so sorry for your loss and that she was unable to attend the funeral. Sincerely, Brenda Clyburn Corbin.

I served with George as one of the founding directors of the Virginia Environmental Endowment; probably 1976 or 1977. George was a wonderful friend to me and my wife, Dianne. And we also enjoyed George's lovely wife, Norene. George was one of the kindest men I have known, and his friendly smile helped to always keep our board meetings on an even keel. He had a wonderful mind for numbers, and helped the Endowment double its portfolio, while at the same time making tremendous contributions to environmental groups in Virginia. My sincere condolences to Norene & all of George's family

As we grew-up together as childhood friends in Gordonsville, George was very friendly, out-going, and dynamic with many varied interests.
Even at our young ages, his future as an accomplished business person were becoming evident. As an example, when his many interests began to impact his newspaper delivery job, rather then give up the route, he outsourced the delivery to me(he managed the finances). There we were, he a 12 year old CFO, and me a 10 year circulation(delivery) manager.
His passing will certainly leave a lot of great memories about him with all of us!

I was sorry to learn of Mr. Yowell's passing. He was the President of Dominion in Richmond when I worked there. He had an amazing management philosophy that encouraged the entire banking system to excel. He never came into the branch without a smile on his face. My deepest sympathies to his family.
