Nolensville, TN

James Robert "Bobby" Wesson, Jr., passed away October 21, 2013 at his home.

He was 65 years old and employed by Ozburn Hessey Logistics as a programmer analyst. He was a US Army veteran and served his country in the medical corps in Vietnam at the height of the conflict, and a member of the American Legion. He was a member of The Church of the Good Shepherd, where he served as Sunday Reader and acolyte for the 7:45 service. He was graduated from John Overton High School, Vanderbilt University, and Middle Tennessee State University.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Robert Wesson, Sr.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jenny Wesson; sons, Jeff Wesson and Scott Wesson, both of Franklin, TN; mother, Jan Wesson of Hermitage, TN; sister, Janni Klenk (Rolf) of San Jose, CA; brother, Phil Wesson (Karen) of White Hall, AR; brother, Mark Wesson (Sherry) of Chattanooga, TN; several nieces, nephews, in-laws, and extended family.

Bobby loved his family, and especially loved watching his boys play sports. He enjoyed sports of all kinds, whether organized softball where he met his wife, Jenny, basketball, horseshoes or corn hole in the backyard with family. In his younger days, he was a fast pitch softball pitcher, as well as member of the Nashville Rugby Football Club. He played on one of the early Vanderbilt baseball teams. He was an avid fan of the Vanderbilt Commodores, Tennessee Titans, and Atlanta Braves. He also enjoyed music, playing the guitar and banjo with friends and family. He performed with the Pull Tight Theater group.

The family will receive friends from 2:30-4 p.m., at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 1420 Wilson Pike, Brentwood, TN on Sunday, October 27, 2013 followed by a Celebration of His Life with military honors from 4-5 p.m., officiated by Father Randy Dunnavant. Reception following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Church of the Good Shepherd, Brentwood TN in Bobby's memory.
