LEESON, JR., James Turner Jim Leeson was born on May 13, 1930 in North Carolina and died at home on May 3, 2010 in Franklin, TN. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Idabelle Lancaster Leeson and James Turner Leeson. His sister, Idabelle Leeson Glascock, also predeceased him. He is survived by nieces, Joan Keller Glascock of St. Louis, MO and Rebecca Ann Glascock Brown of Georgia. He was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi and the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University in New York. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and had been a reporter for the Associated Press International. Jim was influential in the Corps of Engineers developing the Natchez Trace Parkway. He was the Director of the Southern Educational Reporting Service in Nashville for many years and was a long time advisor to all publications at Vanderbilt University. He later specialized in brokering sales of farm property in Williamson County. Mr. Leeson is survived by many friends, some including several generations of families, as well as those that he mentored. All of us have been fortunate to have called him our friend. There will be a wake to celebrate the life of Jim Leeson on Thursday, May 13th at 5:30 p.m. at the property he owned, referred to as "The Overlook", which is located on Backbone Ridge in Franklin.
