MULLOY, JR., John Patrick Of Nashville. Passed away at the age of 84 on Monday, the 31st of December 2012 at home. He was born the 25th of August 1928 to Nora Burns Mulloy and John Patrick Mulloy Sr. He was a dedicated parishioner of St. Edward Church for over 50 years. John was a graduate of Christ the King School and Father Ryan High School in 1946 where he was voted wittiest. As did many of the Greatest Generation, he served his country as an Army Sergeant in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He earned the victory medal in 1947. Upon returning home he attended Peabody University and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He married Freda Ann Fox of Knoxville February 7th, 1954 and remained married for 59 years. After years of sales positions he dedicated 32 years to public service in the addiction field. He lead the Alcohol Drug Council from 1972 until his retirement in 1996. During his tenure he earned several local and national awards in his field. He was awarded the Lifetime Achievement by the Associations of Drug Counselors. There is an annual John Patrick Mulloy award presented for recognition to workers achieving excellence in this field of service. John's first love was God, family, and country. He delighted in family gatherings and trips to the beach. He had a profound respect for all men and women in the military. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathleen Anne Mulloy; parents; brother, Joe Burns Mulloy. Survived by wife, Freda Anne Mulloy; sons, John Patrick Mulloy III, Michael Gerard Mulloy, Timothy Phillip Mulloy and Paul Joseph Mulloy; daughters, Geraldine Ann King, Mary Polly Golden, Nora Mulloy Boyte; 18 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 3 sons-in-law; 3 daughters-in-law; sister-in-law, Deanne Mulloy; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Thursday evening the 3rd of January from five o'clock until seven thirty with the Rosary commencing at seven thirty. Mass of Resurrection will be conducted at St. Edward Catholic Church on Friday, the 4th of January at ten o'clock in the morning with the Most Reverend David Choby, Celebrant and Joseph Patrick Breen, ConCelebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Shelton, Bick Boyte, Doug King, Mike Burgin, Frankie Oliveri, John Fite, Joey Mulloy and Bobby Green. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in honor of Mr. Mulloy to St. Edward Church and School.
