Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we have made a small donation to The Summit Project to honor and remember Kevin B. Balduf US Marine Sergeant. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals across the American youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,

I never got to meet Sgt Kevin Balduf, and I really wish I had. I would like to have been able to say 'thank you' for all he was doing, wearing a uniform and fighting for the freedom of not only his fellow Americans, but Australians like me...living half a world away. It takes a certain kind of person do to what Sgt Balduf, clearly did and did so well. Those kind of people are rare in their ability to give selflessly to others, and special indeed that they would lay down their life in the line of their 'duty', so others could live, lives free of fear and uncertainty. "Thank you" seems so trite and hollow a phrase to use when the measure of a human being like Sgt Kevin Balduf and others like him is summed up in this life. I believe though, that there is a special place in Eternity for those such as him, and know he is there... waiting for those who miss him so dearly to someday be reunited. My and my families' thoughts and prayers are with you all, during this difficult time. Please know, that Australia too is a nation... grateful of your son's service and sacrifice. God bless him, and all of you!
He "met up with Jesus."

Dear Balduf Family,
I guess I'll start by saying that my father just retired from the Army two years ago. My entire life has been that of a military brat, several years of which involved me sitting at home while he was on the other side of the world protecting our freedom. I heard your story and instantly realized how easily that could have been my dad. As I'm sure you are aware, your son is without a doubt a hero. I have more respect for our US Soldiers and my father than most anyone else, the one exception being my Lord Jesus Christ. Unlike a lot of people, I also know that when a soldier goes to war, so does his family. And cause of that, you all have my respect as well. Know that my family is praying for you, your friends, and your community. We love you and God bless your son and our troops.

Dear Balduf Family,
I wish to offer my deepest sympathies and condolences during this time of sorrow. Although I never knew Sgt Balduf personally, my dad did and he spoke very highly of him and the other members of the team. I have been listening to patriotic music lately and like the song says "I am proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free and I won't forget the men who died who gave that right to me". Sgt Balduf will be forever missed, but never forgotten.God Bless and Semper Fi

Sgt Balduf was a great person and Marine. When I was a Private/PFC, he showed me how to treat junior Marines, if and when I ever got promoted.. For this, I am thankful , and I will always remember him. It is an honor to have known someone who made the ultimate sacrifice.

For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed
But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.
For those missing in action;
for those who didn’t make it home.
I know you’re in God’s presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.
I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you .
I Salute You.

To the Family of Sgt. Kevin B. Balduf
I wish I had the right words to say at this time, but I know there are none. I grieve for the loss of your beloved son and I know that I cannot fathom the pain you must be feeling. Your son will not be forgotten and what he did to help protect our homeland and our freedoms. It was his life that made him a Hero. It was his noble path that made him an American Hero. It was his ultimate sacrifice that made him a Fallen Hero. May God carry him to Heaven on His precious wings and give him a palace to live in. I pray that our Heavenly Father above will grace you with His love, His comfort and His peace. Heaven's Gates now has a new handsome Marine standing guard. Amen.

There are no words that can be said to heal a heart that is grieving but my prayers are with the Balduf family.

A email from my husband who is currently serving in Afghanistan:
"I just went to the memorial service for Sgt Kevin Balduf who was killed with LtCol Palmer. It was a really good service and by all accounts, he was a model Marine. I had never met him, but I could see that lots of Marines both junior and senior to him looked at him as a Marine to emulate. Best of all he was of the body of Christ. So that is good to know. He has two little girls. I could tell by the slideshow that they showed that he was a great Dad."
Deepest sympathies to your family.

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to SGT. Kevin B. Balduf our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Kevin. And to Kevin it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Kevin, you are a brave Marine Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,307 Legionnaire Veterans of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Kevin’s family and loved ones. Semper Fi !
