TURNER, L. DAVID Passed October 15, 2012. After 61 years of love and laughter, our brother and friend passed away suddenly from this life. He will be remembered for his love of life, love of the UTC athletics, and particularly love of his alma mater, Vanderbilt University. He was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga, and was passionate about his love of the city. David served on numerous non-profit boards including The Public Library Board and The Coalition Against Domestic Violence. He worked in the banking community, and was also a tutor and mentor for over 35 years with UTC athletes. He is survived by his brother, Sam Turner of Washington, D.C.; and his sister, Nancy Dow of Murfreesboro. He is also survived by his nieces and nephew, Miranda Turner Sorkin of New York City, Emily Dow Yates of Birmingham, and Taylor Dow of New York City. His final resting place will be at the Vanderbilt Memorial Gardens. A Celebration of his Life will be held Sunday, December 2 at 2 p.m. at Lindsay Street Hall in Chattanooga.
