Richard Harrison "Dick" Orgain

Dickson, TN

Age 92, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014 peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side.

He and his late brother, William Orgain, were partners and owners of the former Orgain Insurance Agency in Dickson for over sixty years. Born in White Oak Flatt in Dickson County and was the son of the late Wylie Hershel and Annie Laura White Orgain. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy Seabees' in the South Pacific Isles during WWII. He was an Al Menah Shriner. He was a man of great integrity who loved his family, community and country. He was a wonderful caregiver to family and was a most generous man who possessed a great sense of humor and had a great talent and hobby of woodworking. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dickson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Evelyn Eubank and Emma Duke; and his brother, William H. Orgain.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Mary Ruth Holt Orgain; his son, William Harrison "Bill" Orgain; his sisters, Katherine "Kate" Weatherspoon and her husband, Dean, and Mary Frances "Poochie" Hodges; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 11 a.m. from the First Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Miller giving the Message of Hope, Dr. John Compton delivering the eulogy, Bro. Frank Whitaker giving prayer and Rev. Lewis Bratton will have the committal services at the cemetery. Place of rest will be in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens with military honors.

Visitation will be Friday, April 25 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home and will continue on Saturday April 26 at the church beginning at 10 a.m. until time of service.

Those desiring, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, American , . or the Shriner's Crippled Children's hospital.

Family and Friends will serve as active casket bearers and Honorary will be the Estes Sunday School Class, Billy Duke and Aaron Terlecki.
