WOODS, Rilla MoranAge 86 of Nashville; April 16, 2011 at Alive Hospice Residence. Born in Defeated Creek Community on September 14, 1924 to Ward & Bettie Shoemake Robertson; attended Peabody College, University of Tennessee & University of Indiana; began career as bookkeeper for wholesale plumbing company; former Executive Director Of Civitans, President of 6th Congressional District of V.F.W. in 1952; Southern States President at the Tau Phi Lamba Soroity convention in 1955, President of Nashville Credit Women's Group in 1957, President of Nashville Business & Professional Women's Club in 1958; formed the National Federation of Democratic Women in October 1971, & was elected Charter president on May 27, 1972 & also held the position of Democratic National Committee Woman; instrumental in integration of Davidson County Democratic Women of TN; in 1977, the first woman to serve as Director of Public Affairs for the Federal G. S. A., the government housekeeping agency & information center; appointed chairperson of the Interagency Committee on Women's Business Enterprise by President Jimmy Carter on August 25, 1980, former press secretary to TN Congressman Clifford Allen; appointed by Governor Jim Hunt of North Carolina as Motor Fleet Management Division Director in 1981. Survived by 3 sisters, Elizabeth Wardean Wright of Nashville, Stella Inell Morgan of Pleasant View, Francis Tubb of Hermitage; 4 nieces, Peggy Alexander of Savannah, TN, Elandra Eigel of Jeffersonville, IN, Sue Munson of Franklin, TN, Mary Evelyn Allen of Gordonsville; 2 nephews, Gary Frazier of Nashville, Ward Moran of Bowling Green, KY. Services 1 p.m. Wednesday, Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home, with Father Peter Do Kuang Chau of St. Martha's Catholic Church the Celebrant. Interment Robertson Family Lot, Ridgewood Cemetery.
