LEVY, Alfred J. (A.J.)Age 89, died on the Wednesday, the 28th of August, 2013. He was the son of the late Clairee R. Levy and Alfred Levy, Sr. Mr. Levy is survived by his wife, Nancy Payne Levy and his children, Dana E. Levy-Smith (Zachary), A.J. Levy III (Isabelle), John P. Levy and several grandchildren. Mr. Levy was a graduate of Vanderbilt University and an infantry veteran of World War II. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and Combat Infantry Badge while in the service. He worked at Levy's, Inc. for 51 years and retired in 1998. During his business career, he served as President of the Retail Division of the Nashville Chamber of Commerce, and also as Chairman off the Tennessee Retail Federation and a member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club. He was an ardent clay target shooter and served as president of the Nashville Gun Club on three different occasions. During his shooting career, he was State Trapshooting Champion and won many honors at his sport. Visitation with the family will be from nine-thirty until ten-thirty on Sunday, the 1st of September, 2013 at Marshall-Donnelly-Combs, followed by a graveside service at eleven o'clock in the morning at Temple Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made the Downtown Kiwanis Club, P. O. Box 22908, Nashville, TN 37202-2908.
