William Roy Startup, Sr.

Donelson, TN

Age 79, born February 12, 1935. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Knox Startup; parents, Edward Charles Startup & Neva Beckett Startup.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 59 years, Rebecca Smith Startup; sons, William "Buddy" (Nancy) Startup ,Jr., Don (Allison) Startup, James "Jimmy" (Kim) Startup; daughter, Susan (Loyd) Dill; grandsons, Drew (Lauren) Startup, Will (Lauren) Startup, Nick (Allie) Startup, Matthew Startup, Stephen Startup & Tim Wu; great-grandsons, Copeland, Price, Jude & Henley.

He was a member of Donelson High School class of 1954. A longtime member of First Baptist Church Donelson. Served 8 years in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 19th from 2-8 p.m., at Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home. Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, March 20th at 11 a.m., with visitation 1 hr. prior to service at First Baptist Church Donelson, with Rev Jack Barron & Rev Jim Cross officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Grandsons to serve as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers Sunday School Class, Charles Roche, Charles Wright, Bill Winfree, Eric Graves, Phil Spickard, Louis Mullen, Johnny Beckett, Sandy Wilson, Kim Bryant.

The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Gaston, Jr. and his staff; and the team at Alive Hospice Madison Campus. Memorial gifts can be made to the Salvation Army or Alive Hospice.
