Elaine Florence Hall Looney was born to the late William Henry Hall and Rose Anna Constant on July 29, 1918 in Chicopee, MA. Elaine died early Easter morning, April 20, 2014 surrounded by loved ones. This awesome human being lived a life of character, many charisms' with much cheerfulness and true "joie de vivre." Elaine and Francis "Luke" Looney were married May 27, 1939. A sweet teenage love with Elaine's treasured Luke grew into a profound, passionate seventy year love-affair that produced six children (with the loss of six more "awaiting us in heaven") in a Home Sanctuary: This wonderful Home on the lake in Holland, MA, that her Luke built for his beloved and their children. This was a structure permeated with love, life, and laughter.
Elaine wore many "hats" in her exemplary rolls as wife, mother, and secretary/bookkeeper/treasurer to Luke's L&L Heat Treating Company located in West Springfield, MA. Elaine was a natural home decorator, chef, and daily baker. The senses of all who entered this Home were assailed with the wondrous aromas, sights and the very ambiance of an unconditionally loving environment. Elaine modeled grace, goodness and gladness. She could go from "charwoman" on her knees cleaning to an "elegant lady" on Luke's protective arm; Elaine could also don in a moment "Warrior Queen" garb if any of her beloveds were attacked!
Elaine was a real woman of deep Catholic faith (who yet questioned the institution right to her end); she was a daily rosary pray-er. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Hendersonville, TN.
This extra-ordinary person touched nine generations in her self-giving ninety-five plus years. She leaves behind five sons and one daughter: William F. Looney (Claudia); Patrick D. Looney (Kathleen); Susan E. Martin (Joseph) with whom Elaine lived these last four years (1305 Rivermont Dr., Gallatin, TN 37066); Donald J. Looney; Robert M. Looney (Jennie); John S. Looney (Catherine); and twenty grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; Three dearly loved Sisters-in-law and their spouses and many nieces and nephews.
Elaine's wishes included there to be no Memorial services with her cremains being mixed with her "Darling Luke's." The cremation is to be done by the Hendersonville Funeral Home, Hendersonville, TN.

Aunt Elaine, my mother's sister. I have fond memories at your home. A giving person for sure. My 2 weeks there one summer with nothing but a canoe meant the world to me. God Bless all your family and rest in peace.

What an extraordinary life. Thank you, Mom, for your loving devotion to your husband (who said you were the one who taught him how to love), each of your six children, theirs and theirs. Exemplary love-labor in service of family: No one was better at it. No one will be better remembered for it.
Love, Gratitude,
Pat & Kathy
