Evelyn M. McCrary
Evelyn Marie Ferguson Martin Nolan McCrary, age 85, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, May 24, 2014, in Savannah, GA. She was born in Nashville, TN on August 29, 1928, to the late Sim and Essie Alta Ferguson. She was a graduate of Howard High School in 1947, a member of Eastern Star, and a longtime resident of Hendersonville. She lived a long and prosperous life and will be greatly missed. She will be forever remembered for her generosity, her love of the Lord, her fondness for a good book, her strength of character, and her affection for friends and family.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three husbands - Edward Adrian Martin Sr., Michael Patrick Nolan, and Joseph Wilbur McCrary; and her brother, Laughry Ferguson.
She is survived by her sister, Jean Ferguson Hamilton; her four children, Edward Adrian Martin Jr. (Wanda) of Old Hickory, TN, Pamela Marie Martin Sims (David) of Savannah, GA, Carala Jean Martin Merzke (Al) of Dacula, GA, and Dawn Martin Garner (Greg) of Little Rock, AR; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, May 26, from 6-8 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Funeral Home in Nashville, TN. A service in Celebration of her Life will be held on Tuesday, May 27, at 2 p.m. also at Mt. Olivet Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Rick Statham. Following the funeral, the burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
