Irene Thompson Maddox, age 96 of Centerville, died Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, following a massive stroke she had at home on Saturday.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, June 17th at 2:30 p.m., by Mark Walton, pastor of the Fairfield Baptist Church, at McDonald Funeral Home in Centerville, with burial to follow in the Grays Bend cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m., and Tuesday from 1 p.m. until service time.
Mrs. Maddox was a native of Hickman County born in Grays Bend March 31, 1918. She was the wife of the late Harder Davis Maddox and the daughter of the late Leve Goodrich (L.G.) and Betsie Easley Thompson.
She is survived by 1 daughter, Kaye Maddox of Centerville; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 5 brothers Harry, Clayton, Horace (Dubbs), Samuel Marvin (Peanut) and Andrew Jackson (Jack) Thompson, and 1 sister, Mary Thompson Baker.
Mrs. Maddox was a homemaker and child care provider, and a member of the Fairfield Baptist Church. She was well known for her crochet work on dish rags and afghans, which she worked on up until she had the stroke.
