ARMSTRONG, Reverend JamesPassed away on November 19, 2010. Preceded in death by his parents, William and Alberta Armstrong; his wife, Thelma Armstrong and daughter, Laura Armstrong. He professed his faith in Christ at an early age. He was born on July 29, 1917. He received his education from the Nashville Public School System and American Baptist College. He was the former pastor of the First Street Baptist Church East Nashville. Before his death, he was a member and an Associate Minister at the Greater Saint John Baptist Church. He is survived by two sons, Dr. James (Dr. Jeanette) Armstrong and Dorris (Nancy) Armstrong; five grandchildren, Dewayne (Cowanetta) Armstrong of Houston, TX, Theresa (Jonathan) Crutcher of Horn Lake, MS, Alisa Armstrong, Sabrina Armstrong and Vincent (Regina) Armstrong; four great-grandchildren, Andre (Monica) Carpenter, Phillip Armstrong, Taylor Armstrong and David Todd. The Family would like to thank all of the caregivers at Schrader Acres Assisted Living, Trevecca Health and Rehabilitation Center, and Odyssey Hospice, for their help and support. Visitation Sunday, November 28, 2010 from 5-6 p.m., with service to follow at Greater St. John M.B. Church, 2200 - 26th Ave. No., Pastor Herbert T. Brown, Officiant/Eulogist. Interment Monday, November 29, 2010 at 11 a.m., Greenwood Main Cemetery, Section 3.
