DEMONTBREUN, JR., James AustinAge 87 of Nashville. April 11, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy DeMontbreun; son, James DeMontbreun III; daughters, Abbe and Lisa DeMontbreun; 2 grandchildren, Olivia and Austin DeMontbreun; brothers, W. B. and W. R. DeMontbreun, and sister, Mrs. Carl Diamond. Mr. DeMontbreun graduated from Litton High School in 1942. He served three years in the Army Air Corp in WWII, and was later awarded the Air Medal for Heroism. Returning home, he entered Peabody College and received his BA degree in 1950. Mr. DeMontbreun spent most of his career in the insurance business, and was the Asst. Manager of Travelers Insurance and later, Branch Manager of Occidental Life Insurance. After retirement, he worked as a tax enforcement supervisor for the State of Tennessee. Mr. DeMontbreun was a direct descendant of Timothy DeMontbreun, one the first settlers of Nashville. He was a member of Observance Lodge #686 Ancient and Accepted Order of Free Masonry, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of the Legion of Honor and a Shriner in The Al Menah Temple. He was also active in the Sons of the American Revolution, and a life member of St. George's Church where he taught Sunday School. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joseph McHenry, John Cunningham, Harley Allen, Tom Ward, Duncan Empson, James Adams, and Bush Cole. Active Pallbearers will be Jim DeMontbreun, Jimmy Luffman, Roy Jones, Scott Baker, Richard DeMontbreun and James Stroud. Visitation will be Friday, April 15, 2011 from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m., at Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home, 2707 Gallatin Road.
