COHEN, Harold Mark Died peacefully at the home of his beloved partner, Alice Zimmerman on November 29, 2012. A lifelong resident of Nashville, he was the son of Morris David and Sara Friedman Cohen. Mr. Cohen served in World War II in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater, having volunteered for the Army A12 program at age seventeen. He was a graduate of Duncan Preparatory School and received his B.A. degree from Vanderbilt University. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Merritt Simms Cohen and his siblings Bernice Marx, Millard Cohen, and Dr. Lawrence Cohen. In addition to Ms. Zimmerman, he is survived by his children Ellen Phillips, Elizabeth Williams, and Benedict Cohen, his grandchildren Katherine Rebecca Shores and Paul Mark and Mary Cohen, and his great-grandchild Asher Shores. Mr. Cohen was an accountant for many years, carrying on the oldest accounting firm in Nashville, the former Federal Tax Company, founded in 1919 by his father M.D. Cohen and his uncle Louis Millard Cohen. He was a longtime member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants. Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m., Monday, December 3, 2012 at The Temple. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Care and Concern Fund, Temple Congregation Ohabai Sholom, 5015 Harding Rd., Nashville, TN 37205.
