PLANT, Anne Catherine WaddeyPassed away peacefully on Thursday, the 24th of January 2013, in Houston, TX at the age of 101. She was born on the 15th of September 1911, in Franklin, TN, to parents Florence Madora Roberts and Frank McClelland Waddey. She was one of 5 children: James Waddey, Beverly Toone Waddey, John Frances Waddey, and Frances Waddey Holt. Preceding her in death was her husband of 61 years, Thomas Franklin Plant, originally from Plant, TN. Anne grew up in Franklin and graduated from Franklin High School. She met her husband Tom while working in Nashville and married. After their marriage, Tom joined General Motors. As he moved up the corporate ladder, they moved frequently, with each child born in a different state. Houston became home in 1960 when Tom joined Gulf & Western Industries, as vice chairman of the board. She said this was to be the final move for the family. During her life, Anne was a devoted member of Saintly Stitchers and O.P.U.S. at St. Martin's Church. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was also a patron of the arts and loved to travel. Anne is survived by her children, Lynne Plant Spivey, Thomas Franklin Bowman Plant and his wife, Deborah, Bette Anne Plant Thomas and her husband, Ralph, Phillip Michael Plant and his wife, Laurie. She was lovingly known as "Mimi" by her 12 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. The family always said Mimi was the "glue" that kept the family together. She never forgot all those birthdays and anniversaries. In her honor, her children have donated the kneeler in the Patrons Chapel at St Martin's Episcopal Church. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to her devoted caregivers: Maria Moctezuma, Kadi Koroma, Sarah Munya, Veronica Graham and Cleo Woods. A special thank you, as well, to Houston Hospice and their nurse Svanhaniel Crim for her constant care. A memorial service, in celebration of Anne's life, is to be conducted at three o'clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 31st of January, at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, 717 Sage Road in Houston, where the Rev.
