FRANKLIN, John OrrOf Franklin, TN, the son of the late Ernest Baber Franklin and Bettie Orr Franklin, died after a long fight with cancer on February 6, 2013. He was 72. A Nashville native, Mr. Franklin graduated from Montgomery Bell Academy in 1959, Nichols College, Dudley, MA in 1961 with an associate's degree in Business Administration, and The University of Georgia in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry. During his career, he worked for the Tennessee Department of Conservation Division of Forestry, along with several private corporations. He retired in 1992. He was charter member of the Tennessee Forestry Commission and served as chairman from 1990 until 1994. He was also a member of the Tennessee Forestry Association and the American Forestry Association. He was a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church. Mr. Franklin is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Diane Seiberling Franklin; children, Lyn Franklin (Louis) Hoyt of Nashville, TN, Bettie Franklin (Tony) Colombo of Franklin, TN and John Orr (Andrea Pramuk) Franklin, Jr. of Austin, TX; brother, Robert Orr (Patsy) Franklin of Nashville, TN and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Baber Franklin, Jr. Visitation will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Franklin, TN on Friday, February 15th at 1 p.m. A Memorial service will follow at 2 p.m., at the church.
