PATTERSON, Mary-Jo Age 59, died on September 2, 2013 in Franklin, Tennessee. Mary-Jo was proud of her New York and Irish roots, born in Brooklyn and living in Staten Island where she developed her love of horses and became a registered nurse. After moving to Tennessee, she continued her education, earning a health sciences degree from St. Francis University while working as a nursing manager and raising a family. Mary-Jo was a nurturer and teacher as well as a compassionate healer. She fostered newborns to prepare them for lives with their adoptive parents. She became a Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor while volunteering at Saddle Up, where she used her love and knowledge of horses to bring pleasure to children with disabilities. Mary-Jo is survived by her husband of 35 years, Mark; and their sons, Sean, Kevin and Kyle. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 7th at Holy Family Catholic Church in Brentwood, preceded by visitation at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Saddle Up!, 1549 Old Hillsboro Road, Franklin, TN 37069.
