MARABLE, Mary Louise AbernathySeptember 22, 2013. Born on February 4, 1918 to Anna Harvey and H.V. Abernathy, she was the last of five children. Preceded by her husband of sixty-four years, George W. Marable; her sisters, Frances and Anna Mae; her brothers, H.V. and Marshall. She is survived by her children, George Anna, Joe (Alex), Alice and Abby (Tom); grandchildren Steven, Scott and Kurt; step grandchildren, Stacie and Dana; step great grandchildren, Derek and Nick; seven nieces; four nephews. Louise grew up in Joelton TN attending Oakwood United Methodist Church and Joelton High School. She attended Murfreesboro College and then graduated from George Peabody College for Teachers. She did graduate work at U.T. and Peabody College and became a Metro teacher of multiple handicapped children. She was a member of Calvary Methodist Church for thirty-five years and then Brentwood United Methodist Church. She was active with Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, National Women's Caucus, Robert Browning Group, Cheekwood, Hermitage Ladies Association, Parthenon, Bellevue Garden Club, Bellevue Home Demonstration Club, Allstate Bridge and Luncheon Group, and a patron to the Nashville Symphony. Her personal bridge club consisted of a cherished group of friends from Calvary Methodist Church who played bridge together for over fifty years. Service will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Brentwood United Methodist Church. Family will meet with friends one hour before the service at the church. Honorary Pallbearers are the Robert I Moore Sunday School Class of Brentwood United Methodist Church. Her body is donated to Vanderbilt University Medical Center according to her wishes. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a scholarship fund for Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, TN or Brentwood United Methodist Church.
