Sara was born October 16, 1936 in Columbia, TN to parents, F. M. and Idell Norton. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Lloyd Norton, Billy Norton, and brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Peggy Norton.

Sara grew up on the Finney Farm near Columbia, TN and she and her family were longtime members of Glendale United Methodist Church. For the past 50 years, she has lived in Nashville and was a faithful member of Brentwood United Methodist Church from the original location on Church Street to where the church is now. She was also a member of the Nashville Academy of Medicine Alliance and longtime member of NAMA Notes, its choral group.

Whether it was the symphony or in church, Sara loved listening to all types of music, and enjoyed playing the piano for her medical auxiliary group. She had a quiet and gentle strength, which enabled her to remain positive throughout her 21 year battle with cancer.

To celebrate her life, Bishop Joe E. Pennel, Jr. and Rev. Frank Smith will conduct a service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 26th in the chapel of Brentwood United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until time of the service. Sara's Sunday School Class, The Faith Inquiry Class, will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
