Ann Wright Hart

Ann Wright Hart, a past President of the Junior League of Nashville and Director of the Association of Junior Leagues of America, died peacefully Friday Nov. 1 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband F. Donald Hart and her daughter, Charlotte Lewis Hart.

She was born in Mount Pleasant, TN. to Anna Turner and Malvern H. Wright on November 27th, 1916.

Mrs. Hart, a graduate of Peabody Demonstration School and Vanderbilt University, was active in church and civic affairs having served as President of the Rector's Aid Society at Christ Episcopal Church and Women of the Church at St. George's Episcopal Church. She was a past President of the Nashville Children's Theater, Vanderbilt Aid Society, and the Polk Memorial Association. As President of the Kappa Alpha Theta Alumnae, she was instrumental in organizing the Bal d'Hiver, the first alumnae group to stage an event for the betterment of the community. She was First Vice President of The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in Tennessee and headed the Society's Nashville Town Committee. She chartered the first campaign for an endowment for Travellers Rest Historic House. For many years, she served on the Board of the West End Home for Ladies as Admissions Chairman. She was a board member of the Centennial Club and a member of the Belle Meade Country Club. Ann is also listed in Who's Who of American Women.

She was a member of the Ladies Hermitage Association, Cheekwood, Le Petit Salon, International Study Club, Query Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, Salvation Army, and a charter member of the League of Women Voters and Family and Children's Service.

She is survived by her two daughters, Mrs.Anne Hart Keesee (Tommy), Memphis; Mrs. Malli Hart Richmond, Franklin; three grandchildren, Heiskell Weatherford IV (Stephanie) Memphis; Donald Hart Weatherford (Beth), Nashville; AnnaMary Richmond, Chicago; a step-grandson, Daniel David Richmond, Franklin; and four great grandchildren, Kate, Heiskell V, Hart Jr. and Helen Weatherford.

A memorial service will be held at St. Georges Episcopal Church, 4715 Harding Rd., at 3:30 pm, Thursday, November 7th with a visitation preceding at 2:30 pm. There will be a private graveside service on Wednesday at St. John's Ashwood, Columbia, TN.
