James Byrn of Charlotte, died Friday, November 15, 2013, three weeks short of his 100th birthday. He was born December 7, 1913 on a farm near Charlotte, son of Lucian O. and Annie Sensing Byrn.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Loggins Byrn, and by two brothers, J. W. "William" Byrn and Horace Byrn.
Mr. Byrn graduated from Charlotte High School. He wa a traveling salesman for Liggett & Myers Tobacco in the 1930's. During WWII, he served in the 8th Air Force of the U. S. Army Air Corps and was stationed in Europe. Mr. Byrn was the Dickson County Executive Officer of the U. S. Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, retiring in 1975 after 28 years of service.
He was a member of Charlotte-Fagan United Methodist Church and was also a talented musician.
Survivors include a son, Bob Moore, Charlotte; niece, Dorothy Ann Petty, Blue Ridge, GA; and nephews, Joe Byrn, Clarksville, TN and John Lucian Byrn, Dickson, TN.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, November 18, 2013 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with the Reverend Brian Marcoulier officiating. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday and Monday from Noon until service time. Interment will follow in the Charlotte Cemetery.
