Gerald Campbell Obituary

Gerald Campbell

Smyrna, TN

Gerald Ray Campbell passed away peacefully December 30, 2013 surrounded by his family in Nashville, TN at the young age of 71.

Rather than mourn his passing, we choose instead to celebrate the beautiful life of the partner, father and friend we were so fortunate to have loved and cherished.

Gerald was born in Decatur, AL on December 28, 1942 to R.M. and Hildred Campbell, and was blessed with many gifts. He was gifted with a natural ability to entertain and inspire, and he shared his beautiful voice and passion for music with lucky congregations throughout Nashville, TN; including Dalewood Baptist Church, Grace Baptist Church and Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

He was gifted with a natural ability to make people laugh and smile, and he shared his incredible sense of humor with each person lucky enough to have known him - especially his co-workers at First American National Bank and Perot Healthcare Systems.

He was especially gifted with an endless capacity for love, and he shared the warmth of his smile, the power of his hug and the depth of his affection with those of us lucky enough to call him a partner, a father and a friend.

While he may be gone, he will never be forgotten. Although the pain of losing him is tremendous and our hearts are heavy, the joy of having had his song, his laugh and his smile as part of our lives is a deep well that we will draw comfort and inspiration from for the rest of our days.

Gerald is survived by his partner, Michael Galbreath of Nashville, TN; his son, Chris Campbell and his wife Joni Campbell of Seattle, WA; his daughter, Jodie Sproul and her husband Marc Sproul of Nashville, TN; his granddaughter, Chloe Faith Jones of Mt. Juliet, TN; his sister, Sherry Mahaffey and her husband David Mahaffey of Decatur, AL; and by many, many people that he touched.

A celebration of his life will be held in Seattle, WA in February. Donations in Gerald's name can be made to the American Cancer Society.
