Joyce Johnston Obituary

Joyce Alene Johnston

Gallatin, TN

Joyce the beautiful, born Joyce Alene Byers Johnston May 17, 1934, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017, joining her beloved Don; mother, Ocie; sons, Bobby and Andy; and close friend Eric. She is survived by eldest son, Kevin; daughter-in-law, Tracy; grandchildren, Eric, Corinne and Amber; nieces, Melinda and Cheryl. Those who knew Joy, loved her wit, conversation, generosity, and kindness. Joyce's songwriting career included songs in several Elvis movies, notably "Come on Everybody" in Viva Las Vegas, a Broadway play, and albums. Joy was a rock for Don AKA "Bob", supporting him through thick and thin. They are rejoined. She will be missed greatly by all of us who knew her. A private memorial will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be submitted at alexanderfh.info.

To my great-aunt, thank you for your legacy. Music is in me as much as it was Don and Grandma Diane. I know you are all singing wonderful tunes for God.

I did not know Joyce Alene Johnston personally but I'm certainly aware of her song-writing work. She was a talented lady who wrote some great tunes that I have enjoyed through the years. My condolences to her family and friends. Thank-you Joyce for your beautiful songs and may you rest in peace.
