Nashville - Orville Almon, Jr., 67, died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, October 29, 2017.

Born in Cairo, IL on September 5, 1950 to Mavis Furlong Almon and the late Orville Almon, Sr., Orville grew up in Charleston, Missouri. He attended Charleston High School and graduated from the University of Missouri where he earned a B.S. in Business Administration. Orville graduated from the Army ROTC program, serving 4 years in the Army until resigning his commission as a Captain to earn his law degree from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphrey School of Law.

He was a founding member of Zumwalt, Almon, and Hayes from 1983 until he opened his private practice, Almon Law, in 2010. A prominent Nashville attorney for 31 years, Orville practiced in the entertainment and music law industry where he was known for his contract expertise, love of all aspects of the music business, and passionate promotion and support of new and established artists.

Orville was married for 32 years to former spouse, Mickey Clement Almon. Together they have three children, Michael Corey Almon and Steven Todd Almon of Nashville, Tennessee and Lyndsey Michelle Almon of Birmingham, Alabama. He is also survived by his mother, Mavis Almon of Charleston, MO, and sister, Debbie Almon Pollock of Sikeston, MO, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the kind words, thoughts, prayers, and offers of support and assistance from the many friends, associates, artists, and clients that knew and loved Orv. They can assure you that he loved you back.

There will be a private family service held in Orville's hometown of Charleston, MO. In Nashville, a celebration of life gathering is being planned. Details to be announced soon.

Orville was a great lawyer, and an even greater friend. I was very fortunate and honored to be his partner for so many wonderful years at Zumwalt, Almon and Hayes. He was extremely bright, and astute at the preparation and negotiation of all forms of entertainment as well as general business documents. I will forever remember Orville for his smile, the gleam in his eyes! As good a lawyer as we have ever seen on Music Row for certain.

Orville was a true encourager. He valued good music and he knew how to keep you moving forward. The world lost you too soon. One of the most thoughtful people I have ever met in the music business. Thank you for your wisdom. My thoughts are with your family. You shared your heart with many.

Although I only saw him once since the night of our high school graduation, I'll always remember him as one of the good guys. He had no enemies nor detractors. His sister Debbie is a friend from church and informed me this morning. Orville suffered from the effects of diabetes like I do. I am so sad.

Orville, I don't even know where to begin. I have so much to say but I'm sure you already know how I feel by watching from up above. You were the sweetest, most gentile, kind hearted man I've ever met. You just genuinely cared for people and their happiness. You brought so much joy to all of the lives you touched. You will never be forgotten, Orv, and will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you for all you have done for me, all the joy you've brought to my family and I, and for always making me giggle. I love you, Orv. I hope you're enjoying your time with Jesus. Give him a hug for me, would ya? Can't wait to see you again some day. Praying for your loved ones left behind; for comfort in knowing they will see you again some day soon. Love, love, love you.

As a former resident of Charleston and Orville's classmate from the class of 1968 I am so sorry for the sudden loss of this fine man. He was not only kind but extremely smart and turned his love for music into a successful career. I recently told him via Facebook that I could never watch.a performance of Man of La Mancha without thinking of him and his beautiful solo at our graduation. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
