Jesse Reed Obituary

Jesse C. Reed

Nashville - Jesse Clayton Reed, age 32, went missing on March 6th, 2018 in the Tennessee River. After an exhaustive and humbling search, his body was found March 17th, 2018. Some might say St. Patrick was looking over him that day. Jesse was born October 17th, 1985 in Nashville, TN. He lived with his lovely wife Ellen Reed in Pegram, TN. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Mary Ellen Reed, his three step-sons Andrew Clark, Jacob Clark and Lane Ola, Mother-in-law Bobbie Reynolds and multiple extended family that loved Jesse dearly. He was born to James Terrence Reed and Ruby Ann Bess Reed. He has two brothers, Seth Stanley Reed and Jason Nathaniel Reed. Grandmothers, Ruby Jean Bess and Shirley Joan Reed. Jesse is preceded in death by Grandfathers James Clayton Reed, Stanley Eugene Bess, and father-in-law Harold Reynolds. Jesse always wanted to be a G.I Joe. He bravely served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 2004-2008. He served two tours in Iraq in those 4 years and came back a changed man forever. He continued in his grandfather Stanley Bess's footsteps and joined the Nashville Fire Department in October 2013. He made his way to station 2, "The Rock", on Engine 2 A-shift. In addition to being a Fire Fighter, he was a paramedic with Metro and qualified in Hazmat, Rope Rescue, and Vehicle Extrication. Jesse also worked part-time for Cheatham County EMS as a paramedic as well as Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department as a Paramedic/ FF. Jesse was loved by all of his family, friends, fellow Firefighters, Paramedics, and Marines he came in contact with. He was a quiet humble man, with a witty sense of humor and uncanny ability to make you laugh. Growing up he was always smiling and knew the precise moment when to crack a joke and make everyone smile. Jesse Reed was an amazing husband, made his family proud, and touched the lives of many. He will be missed and always remembered.

Memorial donations in the memory of Jesse may be made to American Red Cross of Clarksville, TN, the Tennessee Federation of Fire Chaplains, Nashville Fire Department, and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Nashville.

I am truly going to miss you. You will always be remembered as the "Master Chef." Everyone always talked about what an amazing cook you were. The memories of all of the meals you prepared for your family will always be with them. I know that Jesus is holding you in his arms right now.
