Walter F. Hartman Jr.

Corning | Walter F. Hartman, Jr., 90, formerly of Corning, passed away on February 28, 2015 in Fayetteville, NC, after a brief illness.
Mr. Hartman was predeceased by his wife, Glenorr "Mickey" Hartman; daughter-in-law, Alice.
Walt is survived by seven sons and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Kathy, Ronald, Karl, Gary, Walter III, Keith and Kevin Hartman; two daughters and son-in-law, Doreen and Terry Hanville, Sharon Hartman; mother to his children, Doris K. Hartman; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda Bird, Marge Stanton; brother, Glenn Hartman; six stepchildren, Jerry, Steve and Michael Cooper, Patrica Alcorn, Karen Cantineri, Cheryl Crosby; many step-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Walt was a proud veteran of World War II and was very active member of Chrystal City VFW Post #524 for many years. He worked at the Corning Glass Works for nearly 40 years, where he made many lifelong friends. In 1986, he retired and with his wife, Mickey, moved to Penhook, VA, where they enjoyed over 25 years living at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains on Smith Mountain Lake. After Mickey passed, he moved to Fayetteville to live with his daughter, Sharon.
Graveside services will be celebrated on Friday, June 5, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at the Tioga Cemetery, Route 17C, Owego, NY. Memorial donations may be made in Walter F. Hartman, Jr.'s memory to a charity of one's choice. Condolences may be made to Walt's family at www.emfaheyfuneralhome.com
