Jeannine Dobbs Obituary

Jeannine M (Reed) Dodds, age 78 of Dacula, GA and formerly of Heuvelton and Avoca, NY and Largo, FL peacefully passed away on June 23, 2016 under the loving care of her family after a brief illness.
A graveside service will be held at date yet to be determined at the Pine Hill Cemetery in Eel Weir with Rev. Jay Seymour officiating.
Jeannine is survived by a sister Kimberly Ann (Reed) Andrews and her husband James Andrews of Buford, GA; three sons: Stephen, and his wife Debra (Slayton) of Cohocton, NY; Randy of Dacula, GA; Eric and his wife Ginger (Daniel) of Largo, FL. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Heather Dodds of Cohocton, NY; Dr. Stephanie Dodds of Branchport, NY and David and his wife Marcie (Meyer) Dodds of Warsaw, NY as well as several cousins.
Jeannine was born on October 4,1937 in Ogdensburg, New York, the daughter of the late Clarence and Doris F. (Arnold) Reed of Heuvelton, New York.
Jeannine was a 1956 graduate of Heuvelton Central School, Heuvelton, NY and attended the Mohawk Valley Technical Institute, Utica, NY majoring in fashion and design. She received her RN degree from Corning Community College, Corning, NY in 1977. After receiving her nursing degree she went onto Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY receiving her degree as a Nurse Practitioner then continued onto receive her certification in Pain and Stress Management for which she operated her own business for a brief period.
She married Robert M. Dodds, the son of the late Jay and Helen Dodds of Heuvelton, NY on September 27, 1957 at the Heuvelton Methodist Church. This union ended in divorce in 1983.
During the late 50's Jeannine worked as a member of the office staff at Acco Products, Inc. Ogdensburg, NY. She was then employed as a nurse's aide at A. Barton Hepburn Hospital Ogdensburg, NY where she fell in love with nursing and patient care. After moving to Avoca, NY and receiving her nursing degree from Corning Community College Jeannine worked at Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital in Bath, NY and as a home health nurse for Steuben County. Upon relocating to Florida she worked as a critical care nurse for over 35 years at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater. After retiring from Morton Plant Hospital and moving to Dacula, GA Jeannine was employed by The Oaks at Limestone in Gainesville as a nurse specializing in the care and management of patient pain and discomfort.
In high school Jeannine performed in many voice competitions receiving awards. She always enjoyed music as well as sewing, needlepoint and embroidery. She loved reading mysteries and writing children's short stories. Growing up on a farm she loved caring for all the animals and would tell stories about driving the team of horses for her father. Later in her life she enjoyed the companionship of her three rescue cats and poodle.
