Pease, Helen Louise (Manning) - Painted Post  
Helen Louise Manning Pease, age 91, of Painted Post, NY, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at her home in the Emeritus at Painted Post Assisted Living. Born July 21, 1923 in Farmington, she is the daughter of the late, Leon and Mamie Westbrook Manning. Helen married Gerald Pease on August 5, 1941 at the home of Helen's parents in Farmington, PA. She was a former member of the Nelson United Methodist Church and a member of the Presho United Methodist Church. Helen was a church choir member for many years and was formerly employed at Bakers Hardware in Lawrenceville, PA and O'Malia's Store in Painted Post, NY. Helen is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, Jerry; her daughter, Linda and Thomas Brown of Newfield, NY; her son, Walter and Joan Pease of Wellsboro, PA; grandchildren, Shane Brown, Craig Brown, Heather Stanton, Joel Pease and Matthew Pease; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends at Kenyon Funeral Home, 214 W. Main St., Elkland on Saturday from 1:30-2:00 PM. A funeral service will be held immediately following at 2:00 PM with Rev. William Lusk officiating. Burial will be in Middlebury Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Presho United Methodist Church, 1727 Indian Hills Rd., Presho, NY 14870. Phillips, Jodie W. - Elmira  
Jodie W. Phillips, age 83, of Elmira, NY, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2015 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. He was born on April 14, 1931 to Windle and Dovie (Frizzell) Phillips. Jodie graduated from Delhart High School, and joined the U.S. Army in 1948 during the Korean War. He served his country in the 82nd Airborne 325B until 1952. Upon returning home, he landed a job with Corning Glass Works, settled down in Elmira, NY, and he married Rita Graham in 1952. They were married for 41 years until her passing in 1993. He married Eileen Schlaufman in 1994. Being a design engineer, Jodie enjoyed planning and building things around the home. His other hobbies were leather working, fishing and hunting. During his retirement, he and Eileen enjoyed spending time at their place on Seneca Lake. Above all else, he was a Godly man who was an active member of the Central Baptist Church. He is survived by his Wife, Eileen; Daughter, Regina (Oswald) Colon of Avondale, AZ; Son, Matthew Phillips of Cheyenne, WY; Step-Daughter, Jennifer (Terry) Finnefrock of Beaver Dams, NY; Step-Son, Robert (Christine) Schlaufman of Horseheads, NY; Brothers, William Frasier of Amarillo, TX, and Buck Frazier of TX; Sister, Paula Cloyd of Alexandria, VA; Special Brothers-inLaw, Regis (Marie) Graham of FL, Rodney (Shirley) Chambers of OH; Sisters-in-Law, Marilyn Graham of PA, and Mary Lou Ringler of TX; Special Aunt, Louise Bohland of OH; 9 Grand-Children; 6 Great-Grand-Children; and many Nieces and Nephews. Jodie was predeceased by his Sister, Dovie Ann Grant. Family and friends are invited to call at Carpenter's Funeral Home, 14 E. Plail, John J. "Jack" - Conesus Lake  
Conesus Lake | January 23, 2015 at age 94 years. Predeceased by his parents Karl & Lucille "Ceil" Plail and his siblings; Gray Plail, Roger Plail, and Cornelia "Corky" Blonder. Survived by his wife Jeanne (Gebauer) Plail of Bath, and children; Marlene Bacik of Bath, John Plail of Conesus Lake, Linda (Ted) LaFrance of Hornell, and Jim Plail of Geneseo. Grandchildren; Justin Bacik, Karl LaFrance, Grant (Lauren) LaFrance, Jonathan (Jennifer) Plail, and Kimberly Springer. Great-Grandchildren; Holly, Autumn, Angelina, and Adam LaFrance. Nieces & nephews, loving family and friends. Jack was born on June 29, 1920 in Wayland, NY to parents Karl & Lucille (Gray) Plail. He served his county in the US Navy and afterwards attended the University of Illinois where he received his degree in civil engineering. Jack was involved in many career endeavors including; Aircraft Design at Curtiss-Wright in Buffalo, NY and was the Plant Superintendent at Gunlocke in Wayland. In 1962 he designed and built the Swiss Chalet Motel in Bath, NY. He also owned a record store and car dealership. He owned rental property and was a commercial real estate broker, and also loved investing and picking stocks. Jack loved nature, hunting, trapping, fishing, tennis, and was an avid sailboat racer on Conesus Lake. Jack loved going to the different restaurants he was involved in including the Farmer's Kitchen in Wayland, the Dutch Hollow Restaurant in East Avon, and the Country Kitchen in Hornell.
