Charles D. Saunders(1941 - 2018)

Charles D. Saunders, age 77, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, August 26, 2018.

Born in Groton, New York on July 24, 1941, to Bert and Doris (Barber) Saunders. Charles, or "Charlie" as he was known by many, resided in Addison and worked at the Tuscarora Elementary School for 33 years.

He married Kaye Iris Greenfield on November 20, 1965 in Andover, New York.

Charles was a loving and devoted husband, son, father and grandfather, being very passionate about his woodworking, and made many beautiful pieces of furniture and various items for family and friends. A consummate handyman, Charlie could always "figure it out" whenever something was broken and needed repair. Charlie was also very fond of all of the generations of students that he saw pass through the halls of the Elementary School while he worked there.

He is survived by his wife, Kaye of Campbell, daughter Patricia (Ed) Louiz, son Charles J. (Kim Doud) Saunders, grandson Tanner Saunders and the children of Kim- Cole and Murphy.

He is survived by sister Winifred Ward and brother Frank Saunders, brother-in-law, Jim Greenfield and several nieces and nephews.

Charlie was predeceased by a brother Bert Saunders and sisters Carolyne Buckminster and Nina Cottle.

There will be no services. Please consider donating to Tanner's P.A.W.S., 117 W. Market St., Corning, NY 14830 in lieu of cards or flowers. Charlie loved animals, and had adopted many pets during his lifetime.
