CORNING | Evelyn "Evie" Hyder Breuilly, age 90, of East First Street in Corning, N.Y., passed away peacefully Saturday, December 14, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Evelyn was born on September 4, 1923 in Corning to Edward and Mary (Nessle) Hyder, Sr. She was a 1943 graduate of Corning Free Academy.
She worked in the family store (Hyder's Grocery) with her two Sister Rose & Reba, brother Ed & many other family members since her Father started the business in 1924. She was Troop Leader to her Daughter's Brownie Troop, involved in Catholic Daughters of America & a member of St. Patrick's Church. Devoted wife, Sister, Grandmother, Aunt & friend who touched & guided many hearts.
She married Francis Breuilly on July 20, 1942 & spent 65 happy years together as role models for their family.
She enjoyed tending to her roses, cooking the traditional big family Sunday dinners & dancing with all after the dishes were done. In her later years she spoiled William's dog Cooper by often feeding him too much & letting him sleep next to her when he was not allowed.
Her survivors include a daughter, Judy (Joe) Coccho of Painted Post sister, Rose Hyder of Corning; two grandchildren, Michelle Lapasnick of Corning and Brian (Molly) Fontanella of Yorktown Heights, NY; great-grandchildren, William J. Lapasnick, Jr and fiancée Amy Berleue, Brandon and Taylor Fontanella; sister-in-law, Aggie Hyder of Corning; brother-in-law, Luther (Betty) Breuilly of Corning; sister-in-law, Mary Stever; special nieces Tina (Bill) Mastermann and Marylou Hackman; close family friend Martin Ennulat & several nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Francis, recently passed brother Edward Hyder and sister, Reba Lewis.
At Evelyn's request, there will be no services and she will be placed next to her husband in St. Mary's Mausoleum.
